Private Wells

Water Bottle Testing

The Township of Malahide is no longer accepting residential drinking water samples.   Elgin St. Thomas Public Health will continue to accept residential water samples at:
1230 Talbot Street, St. Thomas.  -  Every Tuesday before 11:30 a.m. and Every Thursday before 11:30 a.m..  (Please ensure your water sample is taken within 24 hours of submission).  
Alternatively, Water Samples may be dropped off directly to the Ontario Public Health Lab located at:
850 Highbury Avenue North, London -  Monday - Friday:  8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Municipal Water

Municipal water is located throughout the Township on various water distribution systems.  There is a 12” watermain serving the southern portion of the Township.  There is an 18” watermain providing water east of Aylmer along Highway # 3.  Properties not abutting a waterline have a private source of water (private wells).

The Township of Malahide is pleased to announce that Malahide Fire Services has acquired a Superior Tanker Shuttle Service (STSS) Certificate of Accreditation in Alternative Water Supply for Public Fire Protection for all four Malahide Fire Services Stations.

STSS accreditation is considered equivalent to hydrant protection and is recognized by the majority of insurance providers in Canada.

Why 72 hours?  Experience has shown that it can take 72 hours or more to mobilize a significant relief effort during an emergency.  The 72 hour preparedness message is commonly used across North America by first responders (fire, police, paramedics), governments and relief organizations.

The primary mission statement of the Township of Malahide Fire & Emergency Services Department is to provide a range of programs to protect the lives and property of the inhabitants of the Township of Malahide from the adverse effects of fires or exposure to dangerous conditions created by man or nature.

Electronic Maps (GIS)

The Township of Malahide has a Geographic Information System (GIS) which is a computer hardware and software system capable of storing, manipulating, analyzing, and displaying spatial data and related attribute data. GIS enables digital mapping information files to graphically represent a database of information.

The Building Permit fee is subject to the type of project being completed and is paid at the time the permit is issued.
