Proof of Vaccination

Proof of Vaccination Required at Malahide Facilities Starting September 22, 2021

On September 1, 2021, the Province of Ontario announced that proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (two doses, plus 14 days) will be required to access certain indoor public settings, starting Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

Here’s how that will impact the use of Malahide Township’s indoor recreational facilities:

  • Individuals over the age of 12 must provide proof of being fully vaccinated and proof of identification at the point of entry.
  • Screening and entry staff must review and confirm the proof
  • Other public health and workplace safety measures will still apply, including masking and active COVID-19 screening.

These requirements apply to anyone entering the facilities, including participants, players, coaching staff, team staff, parents/guardians, volunteers, officials and spectators

If an individual makes the decision to not provide proof required in this policy along with identification, they will not be permitted to enter the facility.

  • Children under the age of 12
  • Individuals under 18 years of age who are entering the arena for the purpose of actively participating in an organized sport, in accordance with Ministry of Health guidance.

Note: Spectators that are above the age of 12 are required to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of their vaccination status and proof of identification to be permitted entry.

Individuals with a written document by a physician or a nurse practitioner, stating that they are exempt for medical reason from being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and the effective time period.

  • Must present identification and a written document

Everyone entering the facilities is required to complete COVID-18 active screening and must wear a face mask or face covering as set out for in Provincial regulations.

Individuals can provide proof of immunization by downloading or printing their vaccine receipt from the provincial booking portal at Those who need assistance to obtain their receipt can call the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900.

Resident Information

2021 Dog Tags will be mailed

Dog tags have been issued via invoice to all dog owners in our system.  The amount owing along with the due date will be noted on the invoice.

The due date for payment of your tags will be March 31, 2021.  If you have not paid for, or purchased your dog tag, by March 31, the fees are increased by $33.00 per tag. Payments may be mailed to the Township Office or paid online (Malahide Township General or Miscellaneous payee not your tax/water/sewer account).

Please note that the Township is changing the type of dog tag that is issued.  In 2021, there will be a shift to a ‘permanent/lifetime’ dog tag.  This means that annual tags would not have to be sent to dog owners every year.  In future years, dog owners will be mailed an invoice to pay the annual license fee, but no new tag will be sent.  In the event that a tag is lost or damaged, a replacement tag would be provided to the dog owner.

If you have a new dog or do not receive an invoice, please contact the Township Office at your earliest convenience to obtain your dog tag.

2021 Garbage Tags have been mailed

The 2021 bag tags allotment will NOT be available for pick up at the Township office this year.

As a health and safety precautionary measure during the COVID 19 outbreak, the Township mailed the 2021 Garbage bag tags allotment in November, 2020 to the registered property owner, as identified on the 2020 property tax bill.  The owner will then be responsible to provide their tenants or current residents of the property with the bag tags.

Most non-vacant residential properties are eligible to receive an annual allotment of bag tags.  The 2020 final property tax bill identifies if the property is eligible to receive the annual allotment for 2021.

If you have not received your annual bag tag allotment or have any questions regarding the 2021 bag tag process, please email us at or call the Township Office at 519-773-5344, ext. 221.

Garbage & Recycling Collection
Garbage and recycling collection continues as regularly scheduled.  There are a number of actions that you can take to help collectors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Please bag all loose items, including tissues and napkins, and place in the garbage bag. Do not place loose waste in garbage containers.
  • If you or someone in your household is feeling unwell, please place items that have been in contact with your mouth, nose, or eyes into a bag and then into the garbage. This includes items that you normally place into recycling, such as plastic bottles, pop cans, and milk or juice containers.
  • Please reduce the amount of waste placed at the curb. We ask that residents place the least amount of garbage at the curb as possible.
  • Please respect physical distancing with Sanitation and Recycling Operators and do not approach the vehicle. We ask that residents maintain the two metre physical distancing measures with the staff during this time.
  • Wipe down your bluebox and garbage can to be thoughtful toward our garbage and recycling collectors.

For all other inquiries, please contact the Public Works Coordinator at 519-773-5344 ext. 232.

 Open Air Burning

Under the current declaration of a State of Emergency in Malahide Township, Open Air Burn permits for farm properties continue to be issued throughout the Township.  Please ensure that you are strictly complying with the terms of your Permit to ensure that our staff are not unnecessarily called upon to respond.  Our volunteer firefighters not only respond to fire, but to medical emergencies as well.  If they are responding to a burn complaint they may not be available to respond to someone in need as a result of COVID-19.

Without a permit, you may have a recreational fire, no larger than 2 feet square.  The smoke from your fire may not travel across a roadway or annoy your neighbour. The fire must be supervised at all times and have a source of extinguishment close at hand.

Call the Township Office for your Burn Permit at 519-773-5344 ext. 241.

Purchasing Additional Garbage Bag Tags

Additional tags can be purchased for $1.50/tag.  Additional tags can be purchased at the Township Office during regular business hours as the foyer of the building is open and a staff member can assist you.

If you have not already received your annual garbage bag tag allotment in the mail, please call the Township Office at 519-773-5344 ext. 221 and the tags will be mailed to you.
