An open air burning permit (burn permit) is required in Malahide Township, if you are having an open fire larger than 2 feet x 2 feet.  If you are having a fire in a fire pit type structure or burn barrel, a burn permit is not required. Burn permits are issued under By-law NO.12-96, which regulates the conditions under which fires may be set in the open air.

How to Obtain an Open Air Fire Permit (Burn Permit)

A burn permit is valid at the time of issuance for the remainder of the calendar year.  A burn permit can be obtained by contacting the Fire Department at 519-773-5344 ext. 241.

Once an open air burning permit has been issued, the permit needs to be activated each time that an open burn occurs by calling Fire Dispatch at 1-800-511-9911.
